At Aleph Alpha, we are shaping Europe's AI landscape - and over the next months, we are significantly growing our team. As we navigate this period of growth, we recognize the critical need for a strategic and experienced leader to oversee our People function. As the VP of People & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the company's People strategy to support our ambitious growth plans. You will provide leadership and guidance on all people-related matters, ensuring the development and implementation of policies and programs that attract, retain, and develop top talent.
Your responsibilities
  • Ensure a deep understanding of the organization’s needs and priorities and create and execute a People strategy in line with our overall objectives and growth plans
  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition to offboarding processes
  • Hire, lead and develop a team of People professionals that is able to facilitate Aleph Alpha’s growth and is on top of all People challenges. The current team consists of a Generalist People Manager as well as part-time Office Management support, and we are in the process of hiring a small Talent Acquisition team as well as a People Operations Partner
  • Be a strategic People Partner and coach to the Department leaders, providing guidance and support on talent development, performance and other people-related matters
  • Support the Department Leads in establishing their future organizational setup, identifying skill gaps and hiring needs
  • Don’t be afraid of a green field and getting your hands dirty yourself: Most people programs are yet to be developed and adjusted to Aleph Alpha’s particular requirements to ensure adoption, e.g.
    • People Partnering
    • Performance Management and the development of a high-performance culture
    • Learning & Development
    • Compensation and Incentivization
  • Actively drive the development of our culture and values that supports employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, managing employee relations and addressing any issues that arise.

Your profile
  • Proven experience as a senior leader in a People role, preferably as a VP of People & Culture or equivalent, within a fast-paced and rapidly growing company
  • In-depth and practical knowledge of state-of-the art org building, People best practices and employment law
  • Strong business acumen and understanding how the People function creates best value for the business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience in driving cultural transformation and building an inclusive and high-performance culture
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-based arguments and decisions
  • Hunger to get your hands dirty, with a proactive and pragmatic approach as well as a can-do attitude, always on the look-out for improvements
  • A passion for new technologies and automation – we love AI :)
  • Ability to work from our office in Heidelberg 50% of your time
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) and ideally German
